Let's face it. Many of us played an instrument in high school and perhaps even in college, but after we grow up there are very few opportunities to play again. The opportunities that do exist are very competitive. The Shrine Temple Band is a group that is perfect for that person who hasn't played in years. Clean up your old instrument and dust off your case. Sometimes the hardest part is working up the courage to show up. We are an easy going group and the majority of us had the same experiece of waking up those long forgotten musical skills. Come join us to see what we are about.
The Band plays several concerts a year, including the Memorial Day ceremonies (at the National Cemetary in Springfield, MO) and a few concerts at the Ozark Empire Fair. We are also known to do several parades a year. As Shriners, parades are always a good time for us.
For the comfort of our members we ride on a trailer now when performing, and we find this much easier than Marching for those who like to play music, but have injuries that prevent long walking.
Please forward this along to men who might want to play in a performance group again. We are in need of those who play french horn, tuba, trumpet, trombone, saxaphone, clarinet, flute, clarinet and percussion. I would urge anyone interested to review our website for more information or to contact us.The Band is made up of Shriners and this is the main requirement. Being a Shriner is one of the greatest causes you can join when looking at philanthropy opportunities. The money we raise through annual dues and fundraising events supports several Shrine hospitals that provide free medical care to children. Shriners are made up of all different age groups. In fact, rhere are quite a few Shriners 30 years and under in the Springfield area.
If you like dances, BBQ's, making friends, helping children and being social we may be the right group for you.For more information on being a Shriner, please review the following website:
